Top Ten 2013 Reading Goals

Top Ten Tuesday adapted from http://www.flickr.com/photos/ceasedesist/4812981497/

I do have some goals for reading this year:

  1. Read 52 books. That was also my goal last year, but I felt short by about half.
  2. Read at least Game of Thrones in the Song of Ice and Fire series.
  3. Read at least The Pillars of the Earth in whatever that series is called. I Googled it, but did not find an answer. Maybe I didn’t Google hard enough.
  4. Read at least two books set in France. If I can’t go there in person…
  5. Take advantage of free books. I need to use my school library, public library, Kindle book lending, Overdrive, PaperBackSwap, and NetGalley more.
  6. Read at least ten books in my back catalog of to-read books. Including some books I had to have that are still untouched on my shelf several years later.
  7. Complete the reading challenges I joined (and participate more actively on the challenge websites with comments and reviews).
  8. Figure out a way to listen to audio books now that I’m not commuting.
  9. Finish Les Misérables on DailyLit.
  10. Make more time for reading.

Do you have any reading resolutions?

  1. Oh man. Taking advantage of free books is amazing, really. I am in love with getting ebooks from my library. It is instant gratification!

    1. We have a pretty great library, too, and most of the time, if I can't get it in my library immediately, I can ask that it be sent from another library in the system. I actually got to check out a signed copy of The Fault in Our Stars!

  2. Perhaps you could listen to audiobooks while making soap? Or just doing general housework?

Personally, I always struggle with #10, which is why I keep my reading goals low. It feels good to start the year with a small number and achieve it, then up the ante later in the year… if I do that well. 😉 #6 if a goal I'm working on as well. I currently have 61 books on my 'The Waiting Pile' shelf, and that doesn't even include everything I have waiting! lol

    1. Listening to books while making soap is a great idea. I planned to do it today, but I couldn't find my iPhone—I use the Audible app to listen to audio books. I will try it next time.
